A Little Guide On The 3 Types Of Food Combining

Firstly, I would like to clear the whole fact vs fiction up when it comes to food combining.. Fiction being that there is not enough scientific proof or research to prove if this method of eating is a fad or a foe..

If we go back to the macrobiotic diet that began all the way back in the 1920’s as well as the ancient Ayurvedic diet, you will notice that both ways of eating include principles of food combining, this proving that food combining is not a new born trend for weight loss but in fact a long lived way of eating for better digestion which leads to a happier gut and overall better health and with that comes weight loss and many other health factors, think glowing skin, more energy, better digestion and sleep and so the list goes on..

Ask yourself this, have you ever felt so uncomfortably full and bloated after a meal, perhaps even short of breath? Have you ever had a skin breakout that just comes out of absolutely no where, for no reason? Have you ever woken up feeling tired and groggy, even though you’ve had adequate sleep? Do you often hit that midday slump where the only thing you want is your bed? How often do you feel like gym or any other form of exercise is just too much effort?

If you answered to yes to any of these questions, then you should read on and take a further look into food combing and how your body is digesting food.

Whether you realize it or not, you’ve been exploring food combining since you were a child. Not so sure? Consider your favourite meals, snacks, desserts, and spices. You probably enjoy simple flavour or food combinations on a regular basis. You’ve also probably stumbled upon some food or flavour combinations that don’t work..

So how does the way we combine foods affect our health? That’s exactly what the concept of food combining explores.

Food combining is the idea that how we pair foods plays a major role in our health. There are a few different methods of food combining and here they are:

  • Synergistic Food Combining: how nutrients interact to amplify their combined health benefits
  • Ayurvedic Food Combining: recommendations from traditional Ayurvedic medicine
  • Functional Food Combining: an exploration of combinations that are best avoided

Some aspects of these philosophies overlap, but each has unique properties.
